The Rome Wolves finished their final regular season game beating the Etowah
Eagles 65-0.
Rome has outscored their region opponents 352-29 this season and have clearly
been a powerhouse on both sides of the ball.
Going into this matchup Rome would strike as quick as a team possibly could on
the very first play of the game, Rome QB Reece Fountain would throw the ball to
one of his many dangerous targets in D.K, Daniel for a 55 yard TD. Rome would
go up 7-0 early.
Rome would then go up 14- 0 as Fountain would throw another pass to Daniel for
a 46 yard touchdown pass 9:31 left 1st quarter.
Rome would quickly hang 21 to Etowah’s 0 with Fountain placing it right to Daniel
for a 4 yard touchdown pass.
The first three scores Daniel would be responsible for.
Reece Fountain would find his fourth TD pass on the first quarter alone by
throwing right now the middle to Nic Hester for a 61 yard touchdown pass with
3:07 left 1st quarter. Rome 28 Etowah 0.
Rome would then go up 35-0 with a Joseph Butts 4 yard touchdown run with just
1:36 left 1st quarter.
Rome would spread the ball around well while racking up points quickly.
The Wolves played a lot of their depth during the first and second half of the
game which is great due to the playoffs becoming a lot harder with stiffer
competition coming to town.

The Wolves would end up winning this final regular season home game by 65
points.
Rome 65 Etowah 0.
Rome will shift its focus to round one of the GHSA playoffs as they look to host
Sprayberry at Historic Barron Stadium at home in Rome, Georgia.
Many people are looking ahead to a possible rematch of last years semi-finals
between Rome and Langston Hughes.
Although Rome and Hughes are both heavily favored in their first round matches,
it doesn’t mean a thing once the “third” part of the season arrives. In the playoffs
crazier things can happen.
Rome is confident in this years “new look” Wolves and feel like they can make a
deep run.
As fans you can look ahead and see a clash between Rome and Hughes which
would be a great game and it would be played at Rome.
However, the first round is the focus for the Wolves and Sprayberry is on the
slate.
Rome will get back to work this week and focus on advancing in the playoffs in a
win or go home game setting.
Kickoff will be at 7:30pm at Barron Stadium in Rome, Georgia against
Sprayberry.
