The Rome Wolves coaching staff made sure that the Wolves are not looking
ahead while being heavy favorites in their region.
Rome will have a tough test with Creekview at their house next week with the
chance for Rome to win the region title once again.
Rome had to handle business first against a scrappy RiverRidge team who didn’t
have the record to show it but they had the fight to play a game where they
wouldn’t be flat out handled.
But the Wolves had other plans. The Wolves homecoming at home and looking
forward to the playoffs, Rome would strike early and fast. Rome wouldn’t allow
much of anything from RiverRidge holding them to 15 yards rushing the entire
game while holding them to 67 through the air. RiverRidge would only have 82
total yards the entire game while the Rome Wolves would amass a whopping
487 yards total with 333 through the air and 154 on the ground.
Rome QB Reece Fountain would throw for 6 TDs and Rome WR D.K. Daniel
would go over 100 yards receiving. Both Fountain and Daniel are record holders
after breaking the all time held records of receiving yards and passing yards in
Rome High history.
Reece Fountain has broken the all time passing record in Rome High history and
holds the all time passing record in Floyd County as a whole.
D.K. Daniel now has the most receiving yards in Rome High history.
Both records were broken just a few weeks apart.
Rome would dominate RiverRidge on both ends of the field putting up 55 points
and holding RiverRidge to 0.
Multiple guys scored on the night for Rome such as WR Nic Hester, WR D.K.
Daniel, WR Tinarious “Toot” Stallings, RB Javarious McDearmont, QB Moss Tant,
and TE Corey Gaurdhigh.
Rome looks to utilize more of their weapons to finish out the season and to keep
them fresh heading into the playoffs. Rome has a few key players who have
suffered injuries and one being a season ending one but the Rome program
believes it’s “next man up” mentality.
Rome is averaging 47 points per game at this moment and look to build on that
this week at Creekview.
Kickoff will be at 7:30pm.
