Rome Wolves Dominate In Big Region Win

By Austin Butler

With the historic powerhouses of East Rome, West Rome and Rome being honored before Friday’s home region game, the Rome Wolves were certainly prepared to take the field. The Wolves had a bye week prior to this week and were hungry to get back to action versus Allatoona in the first region game for the Wolves this season.

The Wolves made it clear they can score points quickly. The Rome offensive talent was put on display and the Wolves defense would stand tall as they have all season.

The Wolves made plays early as Reece Fountain lead an 80 yard drive down field only to throw a strike down field to Rome tightend Joshua Ellard for a 42 yard touchdown with 10:09 left in the first quarter. A quick strike from the Wolves early wouldn’t stop there. However, the Bucs would throw quiet a punch back at Rome. Allatoona would drive 60 yards to score on a boot play for a 2 yard touchdown to make it 7-7 with 7:52 left in the first quarter.

Reece Fountain would then throw another blow 16 yards for a touchdown once again to Rome tightend Joshua Ellard with 3:28 in the first quarter.

Shortly after Rome quarterback Reece Fountain would throw yet another 16 yard TD pass to Martel Hight. That would make it 21-7 with 9:59 in the second quarter.

Rome defense would continue coming up big with a huge play from Rome standout linebacker Alto Moore by making an interception that would set up Rome in great field position with 5:49 left in the second quarter.

Rome wideout DeKaylon Daniel would throw a pass from a end around pitch to Rome quarterback Reece Fountain to set them up for the score two plays later from Chance Arthur walking in for a 2 yard run to put the Wolves up 28-7.

Rome defense stood tall on the next Allatoona drive with Rome defensive end Travon Adams jumping on a fumble to set up the next drive in the Allatoona territory.

However, Allatoona would soon get 13 on the board to close the gap a small bit but that wouldn’t matter due to 7 plays and 80 yards later for the Wolves, Martel Hight would march 28 yards untouched on a jet sweep for a touchdown run to help the mighty Wolves go up 35-13.

Rome defense would force yet another three and out with dominate play from Tyson Brown Jr and company. The Wolves would score quick on their next position to put the Wolves up 42-13 due to another huge pass play from Reece Fountain to DeKaylon Daniel with 8:04 remaining in the game.

Martel Hight would get himself an interception. However, the next Bucs possession late in the game would come with a touchdown from Allatoona. With 1:53 left, Allatoona would punch it in for an 8 yard touchdown completion.

No more points would be scored from either team as the Wolves would walk about with a comfortable region win at home. Rome 42 Allatoona 19.

Rome will travel to take on Woodstock next week September 30, 2022. Kick off will be at 7:30pm.
