It wasn’t the result the Armuchee Indians were looking for on the scoreboard when they ended their Spring season hosting the fellow Indians from Lumpkin Co. There is plenty to work on headed into the Summer but there were several positive points to take away from the scrimmage.

The Class A Indians were outsized by their AAA opponents but they held their own early. Lumpkin Co ran 19 offensive plays to Armuchee’s 6 in the 1st Q. Lumpkin converted several 4th downs and had the ball twice in the Redzone but came away with 0 points .

The Indians are young this season with only 6 seniors on the roster. They graduated most of their RB/WR production from ‘21 and worked several guys in to find the best fit for ‘22. Rising Junior #44 Ryland Steen got most of the Carries early with Senior QB Chandler DeSanto running a couple of keepers to give the Indians positive yardage early in the 2nd Q.

The Armuchee defense was on the field a lot. Loaded with underclassmen they stepped up early. Ryland Steen finished with 7 TT FF. Fellow rising Juniors #3 Jackson Coonley (6TT FF) and Cael Henderson (3TT) were solid along with Rising Sophomore Luke Lively who added 5TT.

Tough night offensively for the home Indians but they had a bright spot in the 3rd Q when Soph QB Lively connected with Junior Coonley on 40 yard completion.

The 4th Quarter saw some of the younger guys get action. Rising Sophomore QB #8 Blaine Ragland lead the Indians with 5 carries for 30 yards in the quarter. A trio of rising sophomores played well in the final stanza. #59 Evan Buffington, #4 Seth Hughes and #1 Hunter Garmany combined for 5 TT and a PBU.
