Rome Advances To Round 2 With Another Shut-out Victory
Team FYN Sports November 13, 2022
The Rome Wolves had a very different approach in this years first round playoff game following last years early exit.
Rome would come out of the gate on fire offensively and would
show many different looks using a very fast pace offense to throw Paulding
County off early and It worked to perfection. The Wolves punched in a score
quickly by Rome quarterback Reece Fountain to wide receiver and Vandy
commit Martel Hight for an 18 yard touchdown. That would make it 7-0 Rome.
Rome would lean on their running game early on by handing the ball off to Rome
running back Javarius McDearmont. McDearmont would go 25 yards for a
touchdown to put the Wolves up 14-0 early.
Rome’s defense would come up big as usual as Rome linebacker Alto Moore
would jump on a loose ball and recovery it for the Wolves so they could get back
to work on offense.
Shortly after, Reece Fountain would carry the ball for a 4 yard scamper to make it
20-0. Diego Cordon would add the extra point and make it 21-0.
Rome saftey Joe Wilkinson would intercept a pass to set the Wolves offense up.
Javarius McDearmont would run it in once again with a 28 yarder for the
touchdown. Rome would go up 28-0.
After the Wolves defense stood tall once again, the Patriots would then have to
punt. Martel Hight would turn that punt return into great field position for Rome all
the way to the 15 yard line.
Rome would push it down and then go in from 2 yards out with Javarius
McDearmont. McDearmont would see the end zone once again. 35-0 Rome.
Rome would score two more times with runningback Chance Arthur to make the
score 49-0 which would be the final.
To seal the game, Rome linebacker Darius Smith intercepts a Paulding County
pass.
Between Arthur and McDearmont, the two would rush for 290 yards on the
ground combined with both seeing the end zone more than once.
Rome’s defense was extremely stout in this game, holding Paulding to zero
points. Tyson Brown Jr. was a force with multiple sacks, tackles for loss,
pressures, and tackles. Look for Brown to raise his level of play each week as
the Wolves look to advance, as if Brown isn’t already playing at a insanely high
level.
The coaches done an excellent job on plays and the players did an amazing job
executing them. The Wolves will look to continue this dominance as it only gets
tougher in the next rounds.
Rome will host once again as Alpharetta will make its way to town.
Players of the week are Chance Arthur and Javarius McDearmont. Both combined
for 290 yards and 5 touchdowns.
Javarius McDearmont went for 168 on 19 carries and 2 scores.
Chance Arthur went for 122 on 21 carries and 3 scores.
Kick off will be at 7:30pm at Historic Barron Stadium in Rome, Georgia.
Grant Bullard & Rome Defense Shines In Win vs Etowah
Team FYN Sports November 6, 2022
By: Austin Butler
The Rome Wolves traveled to Etowah for their last regular season game of the 2022 season, and the Region 6 6A champions went into this game with playoffs on their minds.
To start the game versus the Etowah Eagles, Rome did not hesitate to make noise early. Rome would jump off to a quick 7-0 with a quick strike to Rome wide receiver and Vandy commit Martel Hight.
Rome would then rush for a touchdown with Rome running back Jaedon Harmon to make it 13-0 with Diego Cordon adding the extra point to make it 14-0 early on in the first quarter.
Jaedon Harmon would rush for yet another touchdown for Rome to put the Wolves up 21-0.
Rome would make another drive with Rome quarterback Reece Fountain throwing a touchdown to make it 27-0 and Diego Cordon making the extra point to go up 28-0 with two minutes to go in the second quarter.

After halftime, Rome’s Reece Fountain would toss a touchdown pass from 15 yards out to Dekaylon Daniel to go up 42-3 with 8 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter.
Rome’s defense was hard hitting and physical all night long. They were also ballhawks with 2 pick sixes from Rome linebacker Grant Bullard.
Rome running back Javarius McDearmont would cap the night off with a 5 yard touchdown run to add to the score and make it 63-3. This score was in the 3rd quarter alone, so the Wolves would make this contest a running clock in the entire fourth quarter.
Rome kicker Diego Cordon had a busy night with 9 extra points and Cordon was extremely efficient in doing so by making all of them. Cordon has been very consistent this season and that helps the Wolves mightily in the special teams.
It was a great atmosphere at Etowah and It was a great night for the Wolves to say the least. Rome can add this as momentum going into the first round of the playoffs.
Rome’s defense was just as dominant as it’s been all season long, however, it’s safe to say it’s going to become a lot tougher come playoff time.
Rome will begin the first round of the GHSA playoffs at home at Barron Stadium. Kick off will be at 7:30pm against Paulding County.
