Rome Wolves End Spring On A High Note

Team FYN Sports

Rome faithful should be excited about their Wolves this season. Some are anxious to see what the new additions in the coaching staff will bring to the table and many are looking forward to seeing the players who will be in roles for the first time as starters as the Wolves graduated some key pieces.

A slew of key players will be returning for the Rome Wolves and while coach John Reid remains the head coach of the program, there are a ton of new but experienced faces in the coaching roles.

Although Rome has a lot of starting talent coming back this fall, the Wolves tend to always have a depth second to none in the state of Georgia. Many guys will be seeing plenty of time in the gridiron this fall as expected, not because the Wolves are in need of the depth playing younger players but due to the fact that Rome’s young talent is always ready to play early on.

To name a few faces to look for this fall, on the offensive side in particular Dyson Freeman and Tinerious Stallings along with a few more will explode onto the scene on both sides of the ball.

Rome revealed much of that in this years spring game at Barron Stadium. The Wolves looked to have tons of speed across the board with many different guys touching the ball. Needless to say, the Wolves have threats on both ends of the football field. Rome quarterback Reece Fountain will have many targets to get the ball to. However, it all starts with the offensive line. The Wolves offensive line looks the part with the size up front while being effective in the run and passing game.

The Rome defense as usual looks to be dominate. Starting with the defensive line for the Wolves and a star studded front four to go into the season, the Wolves look to be the anchor once again. They will be lead by JT Terrell and Travon Adams, both who hold many division 1 offers including some SEC programs. The Wolves secondary looks as fast and physical with a few guys who hold division 1 offers as well.

We had the chance to interview one standout player in particular for the Wolves, who looks to have a standout year. Nic Hester who plans to play both sides of the ball for the Wolves at defensive back and wide receiver. Hester will also be a huge part in the special teams by returning the ball.

We asked Hester what he thought about this years team going forward after successful spring practices and game.

“ Going forward I feel like we’re going win a lot of ball games due to the fact that we have a lot of team speed all around from every position. “ Hester said.

Hester feels as if the speed of his teammates is going to be a big part of their success. However, it starts with how the coaches plug and play during the fall. Hester seems to feel confident in the new coaching staff.

“ I feel like this new group of coaches are the most experienced Rome has had all around and they come with a lot of wisdom, knowledge and really smart plays we’ve yet to install. “ Hester says.

It looks as if the Wolves have a lot in store that wasn’t revealed in the spring, rightfully so. That should give more reason for Rome Nation to come out game one of the season against a ultra talented Cass team in the Corky Kell Classic.

We asked Nic what his personal and team goals are moving forward into the remaining off-season as well as the fall season.

“ I want to lead class 6A in receiving yards and yards after the catch and I want to have two or more interceptions every game. As for team goals at Rome, they are still the same. “ Hester says, “Win region, win state, and go undefeated. “

After Hester simply ended the conversation with those three goals, it’s safe to say He and his team are all business.

The Wolf pack will be looking to hunt early as they will host the Corky Kell Classic at Historic Barron Stadium in Rome once again. Their opponent will be a star studded Cass team looking to make a statement on a powerhouse program in the Rome Wolves.
