ROME, Ga. — A Rome man is facing multiple felony charges, including malice murder and felony murder, following the death of a 58-year-old woman who was allegedly beaten inside her apartment at Etowah Terrace last month.
According to arrest warrants, 47-year-old James Lincoln Lowe is accused of attacking Leatrice Ruth Frye on May 1, striking her multiple times and causing severe injuries. Authorities said Frye suffered a brain bleed as well as injuries to her face, neck and head resulting from multiple blunt force traumas.
Investigators allege that after the assault, Lowe stole approximately $100 from Frye before leaving the scene.
Frye later succumbed to her injuries on May 4, prompting authorities to upgrade the charges against Lowe.
In addition to malice murder and felony murder, Lowe has been charged with aggravated assault with intent to murder, aggravated assault with intent to rob, and aggravated battery.
Lowe has remained incarcerated since May 11. He was initially arrested on charges of first-degree burglary and theft by taking in connection with the incident before the murder charges were added following Frye’s death.
The case remains under investigation.
