The Floyd County Historic Courthouse Evacuated Due to Fire

PRESS RELEASE- The Floyd County Historic Courthouse was evacuated after a fire was discovered in the building around 2:20 p.m. on Monday.
All employees inside were safely evacuated, according to Floyd County Manager Jamie McCord. Crews with the Rome-Floyd County Fire Department are currently on scene working to contain the blaze. Roads in the downtown area are blocked and police are evacuating portions of Broad Street.
The courthouse was undergoing renovations at the time of the fire. At this time, the cause remains unknown and is under investigation.
