FLOYD COUNTY, Ga. – A suspect who authorities say spent several years evading law enforcement has been arrested in connection with a large statewide gang-related commercial burglary case.
According to the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, Marquis Brooks — described as the final remaining defendant in the case — was taken into custody Tuesday in East Point following an extensive search.
Investigators said deputies with the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office followed multiple leads to determine Brooks’ whereabouts. Their investigative work ultimately led authorities to locate him in East Point, where he was apprehended.
Officials said Brooks had been on the run for several years and was considered one of the most wanted suspects connected to the case, which involves allegations of gang-related commercial burglaries prosecuted under Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) law.
The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office commended the deputies involved in the investigation, praising their persistence and dedication in locating Brooks and bringing the case closer to resolution.
Additional details about the arrest and pending court proceedings were not immediately released.
