FLOYD COUNTY, Ga. – Early Wednesday morning, around 7:00 a.m., the Rome Police Department dispatched deputies to a reported wreck that was believed to have occurred on Shorter Ave.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered two deceased individuals had suffered gunshot wounds.
The reason it initially appeared as a traffic accident is because Davis’ car continued to move forward after the shooting and made it look like a vehicle accident.
One person was found inside the car and the other was found near the Chick-fil-A drive thru lanes.
They were later identified by Deputy Coroner Chris Giles as Cassie Davis, 39, and Anthony Wayne Green, 56.
Davis was shot three times with a revolver and Giles identified the assailant.
It was also mentioned that these individuals had a prior relationship.
Due to the injures sustained and how it appears, Rome Assistant Police Chief Debbie Burnett, stated the preliminary investigation shows it likely was a murder-suicide.
